When upgrading, you must...
If you haven't already done so, download the latest version of RPG xTools and transfer the corresponding save file (*SAVF) to your IBM AS/400 or iSeries system. Visit www.rpgxtools.com for download procedures.
This new version of RPG xTools requires a entirely new Software License Key. This new license key is required to (A) allow RPG xTools software maintenance customers to take advantage of this new version, and (B) to enable a new trail-period option for non-customers.
If you have registered your copy of RPG xTools, your iSeries serial number and the email address of the person who registered the software may be used to retrieve a valid license key. This service is normally available 24 hours a day, everyday, except when natural disasters or human error have caused the web server to be down. The software license key page is located on the following web address:

This new version does not require a recompile when you upgrade from Version 4 to Version 5.
If upgrading from the old RPG Toolkit (aka, RPG xTools V3 or earlier) you will be requierd to recompile your programs to take advantage of xTools v5. Please see the migration document for Version 4.0 and follow it when migrating to v5 from v3 and earlier. NOTE: You may migrated directly to xTools v5 from v3 and earlier, skipping xTools v4 entirely. Simply following the migration document for v4, substituting v5.
